A Romantic Guide to Key West

1. 'Sea' Romantic Panoramic Views of Key West
The  Key West Lighthouse Museum and Keeper's Quarters were completed in 1847. The lighthouse originally guided mariners through the treacherous Key West waters until it was decommissioned in 1969. Today both the Lighthouse and the Keeper's Quarters have been restored to show visitors what life was like for a lighthouse keeper in the days before electricity and automation. Couples can climb an 88-step circular staircase to the historic lighthouse deck for a romantic panoramic view of Key West and observe historic artifacts, photos and journals. www.kwahs.com/lighthouse.htm

2. Get Lost in a Secret Garden
The 19th-century Key West Audubon House and Gardens were originally built by shipwreck salvager Captain John Geiger. Now a museum, the Audubon House showcases both the Audubon connection and Key West's early years. The antique-filled house contains nearly 30 first-edition Audubon works and adjoins a gallery featuring 500 Audubon lithographs. Walk hand in hand through the gardens surrounding the Audubon House, which contain a breathtaking variety of tropical foliage, native plants and exotics. www.audubonhouse.com

3. Enjoy a Three Hour Lunch
Romantic Key West sidewalk cafés abound and offer their take of the local specialties, many offering mini versions of their award winning evening menus.  No rush.  With a couple of glasses of fine wine, crafted beer or a frozen island concoction, the afternoon is now on the right track. Truly a romantic Key West experience and a paradise found. Make sure to try the conch fritters and key lime pie as a sweet treat. http://bit.ly/VivPF4

4. Watch Dolphins in the Wild
Let your heart skip a beat as you pass through the blue waters of Key West into the playground of wild dolphins. Watch as the sea fills with their shapes and energy. Delight in watching dolphins romp, feed and play. Hundreds of dolphins call the waters of Key West home and you can share the memorable and romantic experience of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat with Dolphin Safari Charters. www.safaricharters.com
